Punchline - Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 9, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Punchline ("App") handles information. Punchline is designed as a local-first app. The developer does not sell personal data and does not run third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the active app flow.
2. What We Collect
The developer does not collect personal information through a custom backend. Punchline does not require account creation.
3. What the App Accesses on Device
- Microphone input (for voice-triggered sound playback).
- Speech recognition services provided by Apple. Depending on system configuration, speech processing may be performed on-device or by Apple services.
- Motion sensor data (to detect shake triggers).
- User-selected audio files from the Files app (when importing custom sounds).
4. How Data Is Used
- Triggering sounds from voice or motion.
- Storing your sound library configuration locally on your device.
- Storing imported sound files locally on your device.
- Tracking trial timing and purchase-access state locally.
5. Local Storage
Punchline stores app data on-device, including imported sound files, sound metadata (titles and trigger mappings), and trial-related timestamps/access metadata.
6. Network and Apple Services
Punchline does not use a developer-operated server for user data. Some functionality relies on Apple services/frameworks (for example StoreKit purchases and speech recognition behavior managed by Apple). Any processing by Apple is governed by Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
7. Purchases
Punchline offers a one-time unlock purchase after a free trial period. Payments are processed by Apple. The developer does not receive your full payment credentials.
8. Children's Privacy
Punchline is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed to children under 13. The App does not provide a developer-operated system for submitting personal data.
9. Your Choices
- Decline microphone/speech permissions (some features will not work).
- Remove imported files and app data from your device.
- Manage purchases through your Apple account settings.
10. Data Security
Data security depends in part on your device security settings (passcode, biometrics, backups). While reasonable measures are taken to protect data stored on-device, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
11. Data Sharing
The developer does not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties.
12. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated as features or legal requirements change. Updated versions will include a revised Effective Date.
